Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Appalachian Ohio State of the Region Conference in Athens.
Join public officials, economic development professionals, business and organizational leaders and others attending from throughout the 32-county region to discuss Placemaking & Reimagining Rural Economies. The conference brings opportunities to learn and discuss issues related to economic growth and community development in the Appalachian Ohio region.
This year’s event is Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. The full day of events will take place on OHIO’s Athens Campus in the Baker University Center Ballroom. This event is organized annually as part of the Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) University Center project, many thanks for their ongoing support.
There are several outstanding success stories from the OVRDC region taking part in the presentation. Stakeholders will share news on their projects, and include Tammy Eallonardo, Director of Ross County Economic Development, sharing about downtown revitalization successes in Chillicothe – voted one of the best 5 cities to live, work, and visit according to Ohio Magazine. In addition, Robert and Julia Black from the Portsmouth Boneyfiddle Project Final Friday Concert Series, a recent Governor’s Award for the Arts winner for Community Development and Participation, will share their experience for showcasing live music to build community and grow the tourism economy.
